BE TOPICAL  Make sure your talk or presentation is on target and topic and stays specific to it.  Perhaps having several such programs lined up on a variety of subject matter would give you a head start so that no matter what you wish to talk about, the basic and foundational material is already in your hands.  Then you can add to it as situations and the material might change, and you can then even customize it aimed toward the group you are presenting it to.

USE CLEAR GRAPHICS  Make sure that what you incorporate into your Powerpoint presentations is a true outline of the material you will cover, and that your personal notes reflect that material.  You can find a good deal of slides on the “SWISS ARMY KNIFE”, “Talk On Disc” and/or the three “Campaign” tools provided by the League’s PR Department which should be in the hands of, and used by, every PIO in the field.  There is a wealth of information and materials provided there to make your job both easier and more professional.

NOT the way to dress!

NOT the way to dress!

BE PRESENTABLE   Make sure that you always look your best and are well groomed.  The possibility of you being video recorded might exist, and remember that you now represent all of amateur radio in the eyes of those watching.  A League or nice club shirt and badge to identify yourself is always helpful and shows professionalism and that you take what you do seriously. Look neat, dress appropriately and remember to set a good example of what we are and are not.  (Please refer to the subsection above on “Appearance and Dress”).  Perception is everything, so look sharp.

Remember again that you represent us all and Amateur Radio!
