The "One-sheeter"

Ever get some new restaurant to stick a flier in your front door?  That probably was a one-sheeter.  Called by various names, it is a one side of one page "broadside" advertisement.  In an 8x11" space, they get you interested in their capabiities and what they can provide for you.

We recommend you do the same thing.  After all, media people are consumers too.  They need news!  They need stories or they are out of a job.  They are looking for them and especially for good ones.  You, as a PIO, should "sell" them on your capabilities to deliver a good story.  So, develop a one-sheeter about yourself.

Make up a GOOD LOOKING one-sheeter for yourself.  Get it printed off at a Staples or some place that can do it on glossy paper and make it look good.  Remember when you were going out on a date and wanted to impress?  This is the same idea!  It's your "face" to the media.

Be sure to add in those parts where you are an "expert" and can help them.  Remember, most media don't know a transciever from a transistor.  You know more than you think you do!  So advertise your brain.

Depending on your looks and age and comfort levels, you may want to have a picture of yourself on it.  TV likes this, but some of us are not comfortable being on camera.  (And some of us have good reason not to.)
