Public Service Announcements (PSAs)
Audio and video public service announcements are freely made available to you. While the audio PSAs are easier and less costly to produce than video, both are available and the videos are often available in several formats to meet the unique needs of the TV or cable station that will play them. Many PIOs are shocked to learn that a good, first quality, professionally made PSA for television can easily cost well over $15,000 and often near $40,000. If it were not for the fact that many radio and TV station engineers are hams and willing to volunteer help, these would not be possible.
Because of the size of actual broadcast quality video files, they are not downloadable by most computer systems. We post much lower resolution versions on the web so you can see what they are about, but to get the actual files you need to write to us at ARRL HQ. Audio is a different matter. Thankfully, audio files have pretty well all settled on using the mp3 format and are not as large - so we can post them to the PIO webpage and you can download them.
Brochures The ARRL has a wealth of brochures available for all sorts of needs. You can see these (and a lot more!) at http://www.arrl.org/shop/Forms-and-Media-Warehouse/ You may have to go through several pages, but they are in there.
Audiovisual materials The ARRL maintains a library of video materials available to PIOs and others for their use. These include movies of various lengths, recordings and historical information. We’re constantly adding to these and making them available for download. Contact the Media & PR Manager for more info on what’s available.
Announcements As new ideas and materials become available, they are quickly announced in the monthly electronic news for PIOs called CONTACT! and also on the PIO email reflector, pr@arrl.org.
